Having never seen the show i didn't know what to expect going into this. I played the PS3 version. You are playing as the New Kid to South Park. Most of the major characters from the show are in the game(the characters I know of at least from my friends). As an old school turn based Rpg this game prides itself on making fun of the standard practices in these games(i.e. main character never speaks, character complain about having to wait their turn, etc.) The main story of the game takes place as a LARP of the Humans of The Kingdom of Kupa Keep ran by Cartman, and the Kingdom of Elves ran by Kyle. Over the course of the game you will visit many known locations from the show, and new factions are introduced. The Rpg elements such as weapon customization and armor customization are great. I had a ton of fun comparing which attachments would give me the results I wanted. Abilities are assigned based on which of the four classes you chose(warrior, mage, thief, or Jew) I played as the warrior and the Jew class and both played about the same. Additional perks become available as you make facebook friend with the town. These are more along the lines of stat boost than actual abilities. Over the course of the game you will gain 6 different companions that will travel with you each with a different ability to use outside of battle. I really only used one of these companions. You will gain 3 or 4 abilities to use outside of battle and 4 magic spells for in battle or out. There was a lot of lag issues while traveling the town and there was a lot of frame rate drops. The game even completely froze on me one time and i had to restart. Aside from this it still shares the same great art style as the show. My play time clocked in at about 13-15 hours at the end of the game with most of the side quests and half of the collectibles collected. As the game progressed there are many parts a lot of people might find offensive(nazi symbols, fetuses, etc). Overall even though I am giving it 4/5 stars and it has moderate replay value I would recommend renting it, because of how short the story is I couldn't justify the price. I have played the PS3/360 and PS4 versions. If you have played the last gen version then DO NOT buy the next gen version. The graphics for the Definitive Edition are better but they are not different enough from last gen to warrant a 60$ purchase. This is a successful reboot by Crystal Dynamics. Telling the origin story of Lara Croft this game dropped us in her first big adventure. Graphically this game is beautiful. The environments look vibrant and realistic, and the character models look good too. While the game has pretty solid controls I did run into multiple bugs with character movement (jumping, running, free climbing) in the PS4 version (not so much in last gen versions). The story is well written but has some weird issues (Lara sleeps through a kidnapping happening right next to her). There are quite a few upgrades to be bought in both weapon and abilities. Overall the game is not very difficult or long (average about 10 hours or less on Hard mode) but it is also easy to pick up and get into. There is also a online multiplayer mode. With 4 modes(deathmatch, team deathmatch, a capture the flag type mode, and a attack and defend type mode) it doesn't offer as many options as some more recent online multiplayer games. The online controls are basically the same as the single player except for a extended sprint button and a melee rush button. The controls don't work extremely well for competitive but after some time I got used to them. While it wasn't the best online experience I have had it was overall fun. The online community is very small so it takes some time to get into a match and it takes a full minute to start a match once there are enough people. While I am giving it 4/5 stars I would still recommend a rental instead of a full purchase because of the shorter story and because of better multiplayer options available for all systems.
